Nausea can come before vomiting and both may be the results of indigestion, over-indulgence, pregnancy, over exercise, or illness. Nausea and vomiting that last more than a couple of days should have a doctor's attention.
Nausea relief
Depending on the cause vomiting is the fastest cure for nausea but never force yourself.
Try sugary syrup
1 or 2 tablespoons of cola syrup can settle a queasy stomach in a matter of minutes.
Watch out for caffeine content though as this can irritate some people's stomachs.
Eat ginger
Tablets of powdered ginger root can relieve nausea for some people, or in mild cases, try flat ginger ale or ginger biscuits / cookies.
Eat light
Eat light and easy, drinking non-carbonated liquids which are easiest on your stomach. Drink only small amounts at a time.
Light, complex carbohydrate foods like dry toast or crackers will also be digested easily and stay down.
These foods can also help prevent exercise-related nausea and vomiting.
