Quick Cures For Dandruff

People with dandruff produce oversized flakes of skin from their head and shed them more regularly than usual. When dandruff is excessive, it might be a form of seborrhoea or psoriasis. For normal dandruff here are some ways to reduce the symptoms.

Dry the scalp

Contrary to popular belief, dandruff comes from an oily scalp, not a dry one, as the flakes are greasy scales.

Therefore do not rub moisturisers or creams into the scalp.

Leave shampoo for 5 minutes

Dandruff shampoos are very effective, however you should leave them on your scalp for a full 5 minutes, otherwise you undermine the shampoo's effectiveness.

Change shampoos

Different shampoos have different active ingredients, so to get the most from the different formulas, regularly alternate between two or three products.

Be careful if you have bleached, blonde, or gray hair as dandruff shampoos can discolor light hair.

Some are specially formulated for this type of hair so check the label.

Hide it

While you're dealing with your dandruff a quick way to hide it is to wear light-colored clothes so the flakes don't show.

Prints and patterns are preferable to solid colors and always avoid dark clothes.
